Cleaning
Wipe the upper with a damp cloth and a little mild soap. For knit uppers, use a soft brush in small circles. Rinse the cloth, wipe again, and let them dry on their own.
Drying
Always air dry at room temperature, away from radiators, heaters and direct sun. Heat hardens the foam in the midsole and shortens the life of the shoe. Stuffing them with newspaper speeds things up and helps them keep their shape.
What to avoid
No washing machine, no tumble dryer, no bleach. These break down the adhesives that hold the sole to the upper.
The insoles
Lift them out every few weeks, let them air overnight, and put them back in the morning. If you wear your shoes daily, replacing the insole once a year brings back most of the original cushioning.
Between wears
Give each pair a day off if you can. Foam needs about 24 hours to fully recover, which is one of the reasons a second pair lasts longer than one pair worn twice as often.
